What is keyword research and what is competition analysis?

Tips Dan Trik - The user performs a search in the search engine using a keyword or keyword, and the engine will relevant to the keyword. With the help of google tools, we can do some research to get the keywords that popular or low competition.

The importance of keyword research

Early in my career as a blogger, I didn't understand my keyword research create articles with topics that no searcher. I was surprised, when the article was in ranked 1st Google search results but why not get traffic?

It was only after I understood about keyword research that I realized that the keywords I was after were not looking for.

So, keyword research is important so that we do not get tired of making articles and then finally no one reads. So what is competition analysis?

For new blogs or websites whose SEO foundation is not yet strong, there are times when we need to target keywords that are low in competition so that we can still appear on the first page.

Keyword research with Google Keyword Planner

My favorite tool for doing keyword research is GKP or Google Keyword Planner.

The reason, because it is free and features are complete. In addition, because Google's own is certainly more accurate.

To do keyword research is quite easy:

1. Enter keywords, you can enter more than one. To enter more than one keyword use commas or line breaks

2. Set the target country

3. Choose a language

4. Click 'get ideas'

Then you will be directed to the following page:

From here we can see that there are 320 people searching with the keyword buy clothes in a month. On the other hand, if I replace with "sell clothes" turns out to be 1,900 results, this means that looking to sell more clothes than buy clothes.

By utilizing our knowledge of on-page SEO from the previous chapter, then we can optimize our website pages by using the keyword selling clothes rather than buying clothes. This is the basic core of keyword research.

Search for keywords with low competition

In doing keyword research, usually we as new website owners target the low competition. This is because new websites usually do not have a strong "foundation" so it will lose if competing with large websites.

Long tail keyword

Another thing you need to know about keyword research islong tail keywordor long-tailed keywords.

In addition to the keywords you're looking for, GKP also displays the number of searches of similar keywords.

For example from the picture above, in addition to new clothes keywords there are also others such as buying and selling clothes, buying clothes online, buying and selling clothes online, and others.

From here, if we optimize the website for keyword buy clothes, then there are only 320 searchers per month. But if we optimize to buy clothes online then the total search is 1,300 + 320 = 1,620.

But of course the decision is back in your hands and relevant or not your content with the long tail that exists.

Lastly, if your website is an online store (e-commerce) or monetized with affiliate products, long tail keywords usually provide a greater conversion rate than regular keywords. This is because people who use long tail usually have higher purchase intentions.

For example, people who are looking for "blue shirt" with "buy blue shirt". The first usually just wants to find information, while the second looks intent on buying.
